Black Mental Health
Suffering, shouldn’t be our norm.
I can’t rise above the stigma, lack of competent care and socioeconomic barriers.
Conditioned to, take on everyone else’s problems.
Carry the world, raise it, never recognize our own pain;
No one can see the impact, in discernment;
Self-imposed silence belittles our feelings.
Muscle through the pain doesn’t do us any good.
Its hard for me to feel valuable, the internal fear;
Highly vulnerable to, microaggressions;
Racism barriers, constantly re-exposed;
Discrepancies, when we disappear.
Scared of being judged, trying to convince myself I’m stronger.
Fear of the unknown has an adverse effect;
Fight ourselves to an unhealthy level.
Naming our trauma isn’t a linear journey,
We need that tiredness, to be identified and validated.
We owe ourselves, sensitivity, self-esteem, permission to be imperfect.
