"Primer For Blacks” after Gwendolyn Brooks
Examining the pain they inherited. I’ve
never believed they merit the retribution they got.
Poisoning their mind, body, and soul. The
corpses are starting to fill rivers with blood.
Individuals preparing to be absentminded of;
my brain seeking answers like Curious George.
Born slaving a world as if I’m Booker T. Washington.
I continue to bond beyond, trying to preserve faith in
my heart. Remembering life is only a test of my
faith. Still discernment cascades through my veins.
