Perfect Entity
The term “perfect life” would be used to describe Naomi’s life. She had the perfect job, perfect life, great personality, and her beauty was unmatched. She was an open book, at least that is what everyone else thought. Naomi was a Senior Graphic Designer at Microsoft. She has been there for the last five years and loves her job. She loved that she could bring new ideas to the table each and every day. However, little did everyone know Naomi’s perfect life was not so perfect. Despite her flawless skin, Naomi was afraid to sleep most nights. Almost every other night Naomi had sleep paralysis, but for her it was not just any sleep paralysis. The nights she did have sleep paralysis, she felt as if the demon that she encountered was playing with her feelings. As if her feelings were a tight rope that someone was tiptoeing on. When she first encountered the faceless sleep paralysis demon he started by her closet, and each night she faced the demon he became closer and closer to her. As if he was stalking his prey, which in this case was her. The last time she saw the faceless demon he was standing right next to her bed.
After that she has not seen him for a few weeks, which made her very uneasy. Naomi struggled to stay afloat in her daily life. Not being able to take it anymore. Naomi decided that this Friday night she was going to try to get a full night’s rest. Naomi did her normal night routine, to get ready for bed. She was almost excited to get in bed, but she was still apprehensive about going to sleep. Though she pushed that thought to the back of her mind. Once Naomi’s head hit her pillow, she was fast asleep. Falling into a deep sleep, which almost made her wish she made this decision earlier. Around three am Naomi woke up unable to move her extremities, she only could move her eyes. Her eyes were moving faster than the speed of light. She knew he was here. When she looked to her right her heart stopped. The faceless demon was no longer faceless anymore. Honestly, she would have preferred if the demon remained faceless. The demon held a sinister smile with teeth sparker than knives, that made her skin crawl. Her heart disconcerts with alert. His smile held a look of knowing as if he knew something Naomi did not. Where eyes should be held black holes of nothingness.
If Naomi listened hard enough, she could have sworn she heard the screams of his other victims. The screams scarcely scattered in her brain as if they belonged to her. When he opened his mouth to speak it was another void of a black hole. “I’ve been waiting for you,” her demon said. Naomi wished she could scream for help, but it was too late. Before she could comprehend her demon extended his hand and the black essence that he called skin. Slithered into her mouth, immediately filling her lungs. Naomi felt the life leave her body; her eyes rolled to the back of her skull. When her eyes rolled forward, they were no longer pearly white anymore. They now held the nullity that her demon once inhabited. When Naomi went to work Monday her coworker said “Naomi! There’s something different about you!” Naomi just smiled at her coworker, with the same sinister smile her demon once held.
